Ways to "Celebrate" Our Covid-versary

The year was 2020, and much like the rest of the world, we entered March wondering what was in store for us. Here we are, one year later, and continuously adjusting to the unknown. Leave it to 2020 to make a two-week shut-down last a whole freakin’ YEAR!! Just like you, I’ve been waiting oh so patiently to resume to a life where hitting the town with your girl gang isn’t prohibited, and a sandy beach with a fruity drink in hand is just a flight away. For now, we will have to settle for the days getting warmer and longer, restrictions slowly getting loosened, and the fact that the dreadful cold snap we just experienced is as over as our 2020 vacation plans.

March is that awkward transition month, where one day it’s below zero, and the next, a tropical 3 degrees. Almost as as the month of March is the new dating world during Covid-times. (Listen, single Sugar Babes, it’s not like you didn’t stop dating just because the world may have stopped – whether it’s a safe stroll through the park, or a hot n spicy Zoom date, we know y’all have been getting your fix somehow!) So just because we can’t escape to some actual tropical climates or are hesitant to #GetPhysical with a new bae, doesn’t mean you should forget about yourself!

We have been THROUGH IT, but it is oh so important to take care of ourselves and our mental health. Our in-person service providers are still here for us, so why not be there for them? Whether it’s booking in with your much-loved massage therapist, hitting up your fav lash tech for a new set of peepers, or sitting through a few hours of pain for some body art from a killer artist, it’s a perfect time to support our local businesses while also treating ourselves! We’re all experiencing Covid-fatigue from not being able to see family or sweat it all out at our favourite fitness studios. I’m telling y’all – book an appointment with our incredible Sugar Ninja! Honestly, at this point a Brazilian is the closest some of us are getting to some real action these days… PLUS, Dinna is extending her February sale into March! You got it – 15% off body sugaring and lash lifts (excluding facial waxing).

As a final note, a friend of our Sugarista has been recently diagnosed with breast cancer. In an effort to help raise funds for her aftercare, a raffle has been organized with some stellar prizes! Click here to browse the many options and for instructions on how to purchase your tickets. Any and all funds raised in the raffle is greatly appreciated.

And while it may not feel like there is much to “celebrate” after battling the odds for a year, keep looking at those silver linings, my Sugar Queens. Stay safe, healthy, and smart out there. And of course, don’t be a stranger to Sugar Body Bar!

With love from afar,

Treat your V-Jay for V-Day

Hello Sugar babes! Your fav SBB Anon Blogger back at you with another monthly blurb! It’s not very often that I admit this but… I was WRONG!! Our Sugar Ninja was back in action very shortly after my last post, and we are THRILLED about it!! It’s been made very clear that you were all eager to book in at Sugar Body Bar, as Dinna has not stopped (I know I am just DYING to see her myself!) A great problem to have during these times, nonetheless! So, thank you for your continued support and love as we come out of our second lockdown. Without you, our local small businesses wouldn’t be here!

As we enter the second month of 2021, our favourite Hallmark Holiday is just around the corner – and what a fitting time, considering The Bachelorette is currently filming in Jasper! Whether you celebrate with your fav gal pals or with your delicious partner, Valentines Day is a day of love and sweetness, so why not treat ourselves to a little sugar, sugar? Whether it’s a personal treat, or a treat for a lover, let our Sugarista take care of you the way she knows best! For a limited time, Sugar Body Bar will be offering 15% off sugaring services and lash lifts (excluding facial waxing), so what better time to sweeten that bod up than with some sugar, spice, and everything nice?

That’s all for now! I guess this month’s post is just about as short as this month! I’m just here to keep things sweet n spicy…

Jan-U Hairy?

Happy New Year, everyone! I know I speak for us all when I say that we are happy to leave 2020 behind us and begin a new – hopefully more positive – chapter. While we’re still in the middle of a pandemic, by now we’ve somewhat figured out a new “normal way of life”, whether it be participating in Zoom birthday parties, buying tickets for virtual concerts, or embracing the new mullet fashion (business on top, cozy on bottom).

By now, you all may have heard the Alberta government’s latest announcement that requires Sugar Body Bar to remain closed until January 21st. Although this is obviously not ideal, based on past experiences, there’s a sinking suspicion that it may be longer than that. SO, as your trusted Anon Blogger, I am here to guide you through the hairy situation that is this lockdown... AND IT DOESN’T INVOLVE A RAZOR, so don’t even THINK about it!

Listen, I’m with you – I am an avid Lady Garden Landscaper and I look forward to my dates with our Sugar Ninja, but that doesn’t mean I’m about to go back to my ex (AKA my razor) after 5+ years of glorious sugaring! That’s just toxic behaviour, ladies – we leave that sh*t in 2020! In order to keep the Garden sugar-ready when the doors re-open at SBB, it’s important to maintain a regular exfoliation routine to keep those hair follicles fresh and open. Getting sick of the weeds? Carefully use a pair of shears to trim the hedges! Trust me, you’ll thank me later – the first Peach Bellini after a shave is the WORST (and will actually be more expensive). So, be a good botanist until you can see our lovely Sugarista again, mmkay?

If you’re needing products to get you through the lockdown, the following products are still available for purchase:

  • Sweet Spot Labs Buff & Brighten pads (my FAV product, just sayin’) - $36.00

  • Dry exfoliation body brush - $21.00

  • Dry exfoliation gloves - $8.00

  • Down There wipes - $13.00

Sugar Babes can PM Dinna on Insta or Facebook or send an e-mail to info@sugarbodybar.ca and a time and place to meet can be arranged! We’ve got your back, and your front!

When the doors do reopen, booking will be on a first-come-first-served basis, no waitlists. It’s a one-woman show around here! So, make sure to check your e-mails or social media so that you are in the loop when it’s time to book. I don’t know about you, but my thumbs are itching to get onto that Vagaro app to book my next sugaring appointment!!

That’s all for now, folks! Stay safe, healthy, and EXFOLIATED!

Meet me under the Mistletoe (But wear a mask!)

December is here, and just like many celebrations and holidays this year, it’s about to look a little different than what we’re used to. With the new restrictions laid out last week, it looks like our usual gatherings with loved ones will continue to be digital for the holiday season. All we can do is look out for ourselves and others around us by continuing to do our part to stop the spread and by checking in with those we love and cherish! We all deserve a little love and kindness, especially right now.

Speaking of which, to make sure we all get our self-love and self-care this month, our favorite Sugarista has opened up her schedule for Mondays in an effort to accommodate all of us lovely SugarBabes! Talk about an incredible #BossBabe, right?! Wanting to pay it forward? If you bring a non-perishable item with you to your appointment by December 23rd, our Sugar Ninja will give 15% off your services! Items such as canned meat (tuna, chicken, turkey, ham), peanut butter, canned soup, Kraft Dinner, baby food (stages 1 & 3), and size 6 diapers are in the highest need at our foodbanks right now. Give a little love, get a little discount!

Try your best to book ahead, as Dinna’s schedule fills up incredibly fast for December! As a friendly reminder, masks are still required in the room for your appointments. If you are sick or not feeling well, please let Dinna know and she will be happy to reschedule your appointment, no questions asked! Looking out for yours and our Sugarista’s health comes at no charge. If you are an iPhone user and still having trouble with the Vagaro app, check to see if you’ve enabled your cookies. If all else fails, hit up your girl via e-mail at info@sugarbodybar.ca or text at 403-620-7689 – we can’t be letting you go this holiday season without decking those halls, ya hear?

That’s all for now, my darlings! Our Sugar Ninja is so blessed and grateful to be your #1 choice for sugaring services in this beautiful city, so thank you on her behalf! Have a safe holiday season and a very happy New Year! Afterall, we all deserve a re-do after the chaos 2020 has brought us.

sugaring and birthdays and sales, oh my!

It’s No-Shave November! Well, I guess for us Peach Bellini Sugarbabes, every month is a No-Shave month, amiright?!  November brings many different things; Remembrance Day, American Thanksgiving, early Christmas decorating for those Cindy Lou Who’s in our lives, Black Friday Sales, and most importantly… It’s our Sugar Ninja’s birthday month!

While we celebrate our Thanksgiving in October – and don’t throw epic sales during it – American Thanksgiving has graced us Canadians with the glorious tradition of Black Friday and Cyber Monday!! Everyone loves a good deal, and with the whirlwind 2020 has brought us, why not help support our many Canadian small businesses and shop local?! Not only will you get a steal of a deal, but you can shop with the peace of mind that your purchase helps your favorite local curator or service provider stay in business! So, head on over to Facebook or Instagram and give Sugar Body Bar a follow for updates on what our Sugarista has in store for Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals! No social media? No problem! Stay tuned for an e-mail blast that will keep you in the loop.

As mentioned, our #BossBabe Sugarista celebrates another year around the sun this month! Book between November 3-7 and receive 15% off all services!! Incredible, right?! As if we couldn’t already love her enough! Not to mention her already stellar referral system!! A sugary-sweet reminder that you can refer as many friends – male or female – to see our Sugar Ninja and you will receive $10 off your next service, for EACH referral!! Just keep Dinna in the loop and the discount will be added at the time of your service; easy peasy!

Lastly, as we enter the cold, dry months of our lovely Alberta winter, we will be exfoliating more regularly! If you don’t already incorporate exfoliating into your skin/body care routine, you are seriously missing out on some soft and smooth body lovins! Exfoliating regularly allows our skin to shed the dry, dead skin cells on the surface, which allows new skin cells to regenerate, revealing healthier, younger looking skin! Don’t stop at the arms and legs... Keep exfoliating your thunder down under, because believe or not, that little lady ages too! Keep that skin looking soft and supple and without the bumps and darkness brought to you by in-grown hairs; trust me, you’ll thank me later.

That’s all for now, Sugar Queens & Kings! As always, remember to wash your hands, keep a safe distance from others, and stay safe!

DONT FORGET TO SPICE YOUR PUMPKIN!

Hello, my Fall beauties! It’s time to break out those cute boots, adorable hats, and cozy cardigans – it’s your girl’s favourite time of year! Nothing says “comfort” like a nice plump turkey and everything pumpkin spiced (and don’t even get me STARTED on three-wick candles).

With rumours of a possible second lock-down in Canada, Thanksgiving may look a little different for some than what we are used to. BUT, you do NOT want to head into a second quarantine without giving yourself some love! Be the proactive #BossBabe that you are and schedule your sugaring appointment ahead of time, because your latte isn’t the only pumpkin that needs some spice if you know what I’m saying…

If there’s one thing I’ve noticed as a result of our first lock-down, it’s how many mama’s-to-be have come out of quarantine – we know what you’ve been doing, hunni, and we STAN!! Did you know that you can continue to get sugared right up until your full term? As long as you keep your maintenance at four weeks, you can get your fix of a Peach Bellini Refill! Let that pregnancy glow SHINE and feel flawless from head to toe.

And although Halloween is pretty much #Cancelled this year, we’ve all learned the power of Zoom parties! I don’t know about y’all, but I’m still forcing my hubby and two fur babies into a group costume, even if it is just for the Gram. So why not book in for that brow rehab or lamination, so you can still digitally slay the day!

That’s all for now, folks! Have a happy Fall, and stay safe, cozy, and FLAWLESS!

SUMMER SUN BRINGS FALL FUN

Somebody call the authorities because Summer really deserves a speeding ticket for flashing before our eyes! It’s September – a month otherwise known as our snap back to reality; Back to work, back to school (sorry, Alice Cooper, school actually isn’t out forever), and saying our final farewell to those sizzling Summer temps. While we return to our more structured routines, we can’t forget to schedule in our own self-care and self-love! After all, those lashes do not lift themselves – we leave that heavy lifting to our Sugarista! Make sure your “hedges” are pruned and those brows are bold so that you can enter the new season feeling like the true, home-office #BossBabe that you are!

Labour Day falls on September 7th this year, which seems a little later than usual. Planning a last-minute staycation with your best gal pals or your sugary-sweet lover? Book your appointments now before spots get filled! Squeeze the juice out of what is left of the lemons that life has provided to us this summer, get out to the mountains, and pamper your gorgeous self before heading back into reality. We also still have a few I Love My Muff products at 50% off, so be sure to get them while you can, as they won’t be coming back!

Finally, a sweet little reminder that wearing your masks in the sugar room is still mandatory, as our Sugar Ninja cannot physically distance herself by the recommended 6-feet while performing her art. So please, arrive for your appointment with a mask! Don’t worry, if you forget yours, one can be provided for the additional cost of $1. We’ve got your back as we work together to stop the spread of Covid-19!

Happy September, little loves! We can’t wait to see you at the Body Bar!

With love from afar,

Your SBB Blogger

2020: THE NEW OFFICIAL ERA OF THE SMIZE

Alright, Sugar Babes! I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase before – “The eyes are the windows to the soul” – and thanks to our favourite supermodel, Tyra Banks, we all know the power behind the smize. With August 1st being the official start date of mandatory mask-wearing inside public spaces in the City of Calgary, what better time to flaunt those beautiful eyes than with a sickening set of lashes and brows?! You heard it here first: our Sugarista is promoting lash lifts AND brow lamination for 15% off! I mean, can we talk about a stellar deal?!

With that being said, I’m also here to remind you that wearing your masks in the sugar room is mandatory as well, as our Sugar Ninja cannot physically distance herself by the recommended 6-feet while performing her art. So please, arrive for your appointment with a mask! Don’t worry, if you forget yours, one can be provided for the additional cost of $1. We’ve got your back.

On a final note, a few of you Sugar Queens & Kings have brought to our attention that you’ve been having difficulties with booking your appointments in the Vagaro app. We’ve been in contact with the lovely tech team at Vagaro, and they’ve advised that it may be due to users who have the iPhone or Android application without its latest updates. Check your App Store as soon as you can to see if it’s asking for an update, and if not, try deleting the application and redownloading (the oldest trick in the book). If all else fails, clients can always send an e-mail to Dinna directly at info@sugarbodybar.ca or via text at 403-620-7689! During such strange times, we’re so appreciative of everyone’s business, and incredibly glad to see everyone’s friendly faces – or rather, gorgeous eyes – again!

That’s all for now, folks! As always, stay safe, beautiful, and healthy.

With love, from a caribou’s distance away,
